Reports from China suggest Xiaomi EV is preparing an early refresh of its first electric sedan. The Xiaomi SU7 facelift is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2026, less than two years after the model entered the market. Xiaomi appears focused on reversing slowing demand while adding features aimed at buyers who value software-driven cars and premium tech.

Pricing stands out as the most notable change. Leading Chinese auto commentators, including Han Lu, report a planned increase of RMB 20,000. The current SU7 starts at RMB 215,900. The updated version is expected to launch around RMB 235,900, or roughly $33,500. This places the Xiaomi SU7 facelift almost level with the Tesla Model 3, which sells for RMB 235,500 in China.
Sales trends explain the timing. Xiaomi EV delivered 12,520 SU7 units in November. This figure reflects a sharp 46 percent decline year over year and a 16 percent drop from October. Many buyers appear hesitant, choosing to wait for updated technology rather than commit to the existing model.
Another factor is internal competition. Xiaomi introduced the YU7 SUV in June, and it quickly gained traction. The YU7 recorded 33,729 deliveries in November, its strongest month so far. With SUV demand rising, Xiaomi plans to reposition the sedan through the Xiaomi SU7 facelift to regain attention in the segment.
The updated model is expected to bring both hardware and software improvements. While Xiaomi has not shared full specifications, industry expectations point to enhanced battery efficiency, faster computing systems, and improved cabin materials. Xiaomi aims to justify the higher price while reinforcing parity with established rivals such as Tesla.
