BYD Da Han (also referred to as “Great Han” or “Han 9”) is the newest flagship sedan from BYD’s Dynasty lineup, positioned above the existing BYD Han L as the brand’s first D-class flagship sedan. It’s a four-door, full-size electric sedan offered in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) battery-electric configurations, alongside a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant. What makes it notable isn’t styling — it’s platform positioning: the Da Han is built on BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery architecture with Flash Charging support, making it the sedan counterpart to the Da Tang SUV and the company’s clearest push yet into the premium executive segment historically dominated by Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Powertrain and charging. The all-electric Da Han uses a 102.3 kWh LFP battery pack. The entry-level RWD variant produces 370 kW (496 hp), while the flagship AWD dual-motor version delivers a combined 570 kW (764 hp). CLTC-rated range tops out at 1,008 km on the base electric trim; WLTP or EPA figures have not been published, and real-world range in Western test cycles will land meaningfully lower, as it does across BYD’s China-market models. A separate PHEV variant runs a 54.5 kWh LFP pack for roughly 470 km of CLTC electric-only range, paired with a 1.5L turbocharged engine. Charging is where the Da Han is expected to lead its segment: BYD’s Flash Charging system, rated up to 1,500 kW, is claimed to take the battery from 10–70% in 5 minutes and 10–97% in 9 minutes. These figures are manufacturer-stated platform specs tied to BYD’s dedicated Flash Charging stations, not independently verified for the Da Han specifically, and AC onboard charging rates have not yet been disclosed.

Pricing, fit, and context. Presales open August 21, 2026 in China, with official pricing still unconfirmed. Industry reporting points to a range of roughly 200,000–300,000 yuan (approximately $29,400–$44,500 USD), positioning it well below Western luxury sedans of similar size despite dimensions (5,256 mm long) that exceed the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Regional pricing outside China has not been announced. This car realistically suits executive and fleet buyers who want S-Class-scale presence without the badge price, plus early adopters prioritizing ultra-fast charging over brand heritage. Internally, it sits above the BYD Han L and alongside the Da Tang SUV as the top of the Dynasty lineup. Externally, it competes with the Nio ET9 and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra — both Chinese flagship EVs targeting the same premium buyer. For direct spec-and-price comparison content, the BYD Han L remains the closest in-house match, since both share Blade Battery DNA but differ on size, power ceiling, and positioning.
