The all-new BYD Yuan UP has been officially unveiled in China through a series of detailed images. Following the massive success of the larger BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus), this smaller all-electric SUV could easily become another best-seller for BYD, especially among younger, style-conscious buyers.

Part of BYD’s Dynasty Series

The BYD Yuan UP is the latest addition to BYD’s expanding Dynasty range, featuring the brand’s signature Dragon Face design language. Compared to the Atto 3, the Yuan UP takes on a slightly more rugged and youthful design, reminiscent of the Jeep Avenger’s compact yet adventurous styling.

Its distinctive and quirky appearance gives it a fun personality, positioning the Yuan UP as an appealing option in the compact electric SUV segment.

BYD Yuan UP Dimensions and Exterior Design

According to official specifications from China, the BYD Yuan UP measures:

  • Length: 4,310 mm (170 inches)
  • Width: 1,830 mm (72 inches)
  • Height: 1,675 mm (65.9 inches)

The front fascia features sharp LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs), while the black lower bumper adds contrast with its two small air inlets.

From the side, the BYD Yuan UP bears a resemblance to the Mercedes-Benz GLB, thanks to its short overhangs, strong roofline, thick D-pillars, and compact rear window. It also sports flush door handles, black fender flares, and rocker panels, giving it a premium yet sporty stance.

At the rear, the Yuan UP continues the modern theme with a full-width LED light bar, intricate taillight design, and a silver diffuser, enhancing its stylish appeal.

Powertrain and Battery Options

As reported by Car News China, the BYD Yuan UP will be available with two electric motor options:

  • 94 hp (70 kW) single-motor version
  • 174 hp (130 kW) higher-performance version

These powertrains mirror those found in the BYD Dolphin. Buyers will also have two battery pack choices — a 32 kWh version and a larger 45.1 kWh pack.

Depending on configuration, the BYD Yuan UP delivers a driving range between 301 km (187 miles) and 401 km (249 miles). Pricing is expected to start at around 100,000 yuan (approximately $14,000), making it one of the most affordable small electric SUVs in China.

A Promising Entry in BYD’s Electric SUV Lineup

With its blend of compact size, stylish design, and competitive pricing, the BYD Yuan UP has the potential to become a major hit in the small EV market. Combining the proven performance of BYD’s electric technology with youthful appeal, the Yuan UP strengthens BYD’s position as a global leader in affordable electric mobility.
