The GAC Aion UT is a compact electric hatchback developed by GAC Aion, the EV division of GAC Group. Positioned in the entry-to-mid-level EV segment, the Aion UT targets buyers looking for an affordable electric car with practical everyday usability. The model features a five-door hatchback design with a front-wheel-drive layout and a single electric motor configuration.

It enters one of the fastest-growing global EV categories, where compact electric hatchbacks continue gaining demand in urban markets. The Aion UT stands out because it expands GAC Aion’s lower-cost global EV lineup below larger crossover-focused models such as the GAC Aion Y and GAC Aion V while adopting newer battery packaging and updated vehicle software architecture.

The GAC Aion UT battery and charging setup focuses on efficiency and daily usability rather than high-performance output. Early specifications indicate lithium iron phosphate battery packs ranging from approximately 44 kWh to 60 kWh, depending on trim level and market version. Published driving range figures currently use the Chinese CLTC testing cycle, with estimates between 420 km and 600 km. Final WLTP figures for Europe and other international regions have not been officially confirmed, so real-world range in mixed driving conditions will likely be lower than the CLTC numbers.

Power output is expected to range from around 100 kW to 150 kW based on the selected version. For charging, the Aion UT is expected to support 6.6 kW to 11 kW AC charging and DC fast charging rates between 70 kW and 100 kW peak. Under ideal charging conditions, a 10% to 80% recharge could take around 25 to 35 minutes. Several technical figures remain preliminary because some specifications still originate from preview-stage regulatory filings and early launch information rather than finalized production documents.

In terms of pricing, the GAC Aion UT is expected to compete directly in the affordable electric hatchback market. Early pricing estimates in China place the vehicle between ¥100,000 and ¥150,000 depending on battery size, trim level, and optional features. That converts to roughly $14,000 to $21,000 USD before taxes and import costs. If the model enters African, Middle Eastern, or European markets, regional pricing will increase due to shipping, tariffs, and local dealer margins. The Aion UT fits commuters, first-time EV buyers, ride-hailing operators, and small families who need a compact electric vehicle with low running costs and practical city driving range. Within the GAC Aion lineup, the model sits below larger vehicles such as the GAC Aion Y and GAC Aion V.

Its main external competitors include the BYD Dolphin and the MG4 Electric, both of which target similar buyers with comparable range, hatchback practicality, and entry-level EV pricing. Among those rivals, the BYD Dolphin remains the closest direct comparison because both models compete in the same compact EV hatchback category with similar pricing, battery capacity, and urban-focused positioning.
