With a remarkable speed of 213.523 km/h, GAC‘s all-electric supercar, the GAC Hyptec SSR (previously the Hyper SSR), has set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest electric vehicle drift, marking a significant milestone. The official GAC Aion social media accounts made the announcement on November 4.

GAC Hyptec SSR: Breaking the Drift Speed Record

The record was certified in the “Fastest Electric Vehicle Drift” category of the Guinness World Records. A car must sustain speeds above 207 km/h for at least 50 meters while maintaining a drift angle of at least 30 degrees in order to be eligible. These requirements were not only met but exceeded by the GAC Hyptec SSR, which officially set a speed of 213.523 km/h.

Ye Zhicheng, a professional driver, executed the drift and stressed the value of coordinating the car’s sophisticated control systems with human accuracy. The performance, which happened during a special test session, will soon be included in a short promotional video honoring China’s 15th National Games.

A Milestone for Chinese Automotive Engineering

This record is a significant advancement for China‘s high-performance EV engineering, said Feng Xingya, Chairman of the GAC Group. Its credibility was further reinforced by the achievement’s verification under stringent Guinness standards.
