MG IM5 is a fully electric hatchback from MG’s IM sub-brand. It sits in the mid-to-premium passenger EV segment with a 5-door liftback body and seating for five. The design uses a dedicated EV platform aiming for performance and range.
Battery options include a ~75 kWh pack in the Standard Range and a ~100 kWh pack in Long Range and Performance trims. WLTP range figures span roughly 490 km to 710 km depending on battery and trim. Ultra-fast DC charging at high-power stations supports around 250–396 kW (10–80 % in about 17 minutes on high-power chargers). Home AC charging at 11 kW fills the battery overnight.
Price for the IM5 starts above mainstream EVs and sits closer to premium EVs in many markets, often around the equivalent of €40,000–€50,000 for Long Range and Performance. It suits buyers who want a high-range EV with stronger performance and fast charging. Two other MG EVs are MG 4 EV and MG ZS EV. Alternatives include Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2. Compared with the MG 4 EV, the IM5 offers higher power, larger battery options and more range for highway travel.
