PROS

  1. Proven platform with over a decade of global sales history.
  2. Comfortable ride and simple controls.
  3. Competitive pricing in the used market.

CONS

  1. Uses CHAdeMO, which has limited expansion in many regions.
  2. Thermal management system is less advanced than many newer rivals.

The Nissan Leaf is a compact battery electric vehicle. It sits in the C segment and uses a five door hatchback body style. It targets urban and suburban drivers who want a practical daily commuter with low running costs.

The Leaf comes with two battery options in most markets. A 40 kWh pack delivers around 240 to 270 km of WLTP range. The larger 62 kWh pack, often branded as e+, delivers around 340 to 385 km WLTP. DC fast charging uses the CHAdeMO standard, with peak rates up to 50 kW on the 40 kWh version and up to 100 kW on the 62 kWh version, depending on the charger. AC charging is supported up to 6.6 kW in many regions.

The Leaf sits in the lower to mid price range of the EV market. It suits city commuters, small families, and fleet users who value predictable range and simple ownership. From the same brand, you can also look at the Nissan Ariya and Nissan Sakura. Alternatives include the Chevrolet Bolt EV and MG4 EV. Compared with the Ariya, the Leaf offers lower range and older charging hardware but comes at a lower price point.
