The Peugeot e-408 is a fully electric C-segment fastback from the French Stellantis brand. It carries a 58 kWh usable NMC battery, a 157 kW front-wheel-drive motor, and a WLTP-rated range of 281 miles (453 km). UK pricing starts at £42,175; European pricing opens at €46,600. There is no AWD option and no larger battery variant — one motor, one pack, two trims.
The e-408 is the all-electric version of the Peugeot 408, a model that launched in 2022 as a petrol and plug-in hybrid. The body is a fastback — lower roofline than a standard SUV, slightly raised ride height, plastic wheel arch cladding — which Peugeot positions at the upper end of the C-segment.
It is built on the EMP2 platform, not the newer STLA Medium architecture that underpins the e-3008 and e-5008. Peugeot upgraded the EMP2 for this application, fitting a new 157 kW motor (up from the 115 kW unit on earlier EMP2 EVs) and a new 58.2 kWh NMC battery pack. Production is at Peugeot’s Mulhouse plant in France.
The official figure is 281 miles WLTP. In practice, independent testing puts real-world range closer to 210–230 miles in mixed conditions. Highway driving at sustained speeds will reduce that further. The car comes with a heat pump fitted as standard, which helps preserve range in cold weather.
There is only one battery option. If the 281-mile ceiling isn’t enough for your use case, Peugeot has no larger-pack variant currently on offer.
The e-408 supports 11 kW AC onboard charging (single-phase) and up to 120 kW DC fast charging via CCS.
The 120 kW DC peak is functional but not fast by 2025 standards. At that price point, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Kia EV6 both push higher peak rates. If frequent long-distance driving and fast top-ups matter to you, that gap is worth factoring in before committing.
UK: From £42,175 (Allure) to £47,120 (GT). A £1,500 UK government EV grant currently applies, reducing the entry price to £40,675 for eligible private buyers.
Europe: From €46,600 in France at launch.
Nigeria / Kenya / South Africa: Peugeot has no official EV distribution network in West or East Africa. Units arrive through grey-market import. At a CIF value of roughly $51,000–$54,000 USD, expect Nigerian landed costs — factoring in import duties, clearing fees, and current exchange rates — to fall in the ₦70–85 million range. That figure is an estimate and will vary by agent, port, and timing. No official regional RRP exists.
The e-408 targets buyers who want a distinctive design at a mid-premium price and don’t need long daily ranges. It is a practical fit for urban and suburban commuters, professionals who cover 60–150 miles a day, and buyers who charge overnight at home.
It is less suited to frequent long-haul drivers, given the moderate real-world range and 120 kW charging ceiling. The fastback roofline also cuts rear headroom — passengers above 5’10” will notice it in the back seats.
Within the Peugeot lineup, the e-408 sits between the e-308 (54 kWh, smaller hatchback body) and the e-3008 (larger STLA Medium-based SUV with up to 700 km WLTP range).
Against the wider market at this price point:
Peugeot e-408 vs Kia EV6 Standard Range — The EV6 offers similar WLTP range, charges faster (up to 233 kW peak DC), and has more rear headroom. The e-408 undercuts it slightly on entry price in some markets and has a more distinctive body design. This is the closest spec-and-price comparison.
Peugeot e-408 vs Skoda Enyaq 60 — The Enyaq 60 has better rear practicality, a similar range ceiling, and a more conservative exterior. Both are mid-premium European EVs aimed at family buyers, though the Enyaq has a more conventional SUV profile.
