Pre-orders for the Stelato S9, a high-end sedan created by Huawei and BAIC under the Stelato brand, are now officially open. With significant design and advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) upgrades, this updated mid-to-large luxury sedan is expected to start at 318,000 yuan (approximately $44,500).
Enhanced ADAS and Sensor Suite
With a four-lidar configuration as standard, the new Stelato S9 has 36 high-precision sensors. New external microphones enhance environmental awareness, and its forward-facing radar system has been upgraded to a three-distributed millimeter-wave radar matrix. These technologies work together to give Huawei’s Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4 cutting-edge safety and autonomous driving features.
Design Inspired by the Cosmos
The Stelato S9’s futuristic design, which is influenced by space exploration, is emphasized by a star-ring light strip and C-shaped triple-cluster headlights. A new “Universe Star” emblem, “Brilliant Star River” headlights, sleek new wheels, intelligent electronic exterior mirrors, and a new “Universe” body color are all features of this facelift.
The “Nebula”-style taillight design at the back perfectly matches the car’s streamlined profile and adds to its modern and elegant appearance.
Dimensions and Engineering
The Stelato S9 has a generous 3050 mm wheelbase and dimensions of 5160 mm in length, 2005 mm in width, and 1492 mm in height. To improve perception accuracy, it combines four lidar units: three high-precision solid-state lidars and one 192-line lidar.
Powertrain Options: EV and EREV
Under the hood, the Stelato S9 is available in two configurations — pure electric (EV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV).
- EV Version:
Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, the electric Stelato S9 uses a Huawei-manufactured drive motor (model TZ210XYA03) producing 227 kW (304 hp). It promises an estimated range exceeding 800 km on a single charge. - EREV Version:
The extended-range Stelato S9 is equipped with Huawei’s “Snow Owl” intelligent range-extender system, offering an impressive combined CLTC range of over 1300 km, ideal for long-distance travel without charging anxiety.
