Volvo is adding more affordable and adaptable electric vehicles to its lineup. EV buyers now have two new options with the 2026 Volvo EX30 Single Motor and Cross Country models: one is more affordable, while the other is more adventurous.

Volvo EX30 Single Motor: The Affordable Entry Point

Volvo has finally delivered on its promise of an affordable electric car in the US market with the EX30 Single Motor.
With a starting price of $38,950, this new model is $6,000 less expensive than the previous dual-motor model, making it an attractive entry point into Volvo’s electric family for EV buyers on a tight budget.

Under the hood, the EX30 Single Motor features:

  • 268 horsepower electric motor mounted on the rear axle
  • Rear-wheel-drive configuration
  • 69 kWh battery pack
  • EPA-estimated range: up to 261 miles per charge

With DC fast-charging speeds of up to 175 kW, charging is quick and easy, enabling a 10%–80% top-up in just 28 minutes.

The EX30 doesn’t skimp on quality or technology, despite its lower price point. While the “Ultra” package ($46,650) adds high-end upgrades like the following, the standard “Plus” trim is well-equipped.

  • Park Pilot Assist
  • 360° 3D camera system

Its compact 166.7-inch length makes it ideal for urban environments and tight parking spaces.Volvo EX30

Volvo EX30 Cross Country: Rugged Style Meets Electric Power

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country is a tougher, off-road-ready addition to the lineup for drivers who want something bolder.
It is only available with the Twin Motor Performance configuration, which is a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system with 422 horsepower, and starts at $48,150.

Built for adventure, the EX30 Cross Country includes:

  • Increased ground clearance
  • Protective skid plates
  • Blacked-out grille and trim
  • Wider wheel arches

These improvements improve its capability on difficult terrain and give it a muscular, purposeful stance.
The compromise? Its all-terrain potential is somewhat compromised by a slightly shorter range of 227 miles.

Volvo’s Expanding Electric Future

Volvo’s 2026 lineup includes more updates than just the EX30 Single Motor and Cross Country. The Volvo EX90, the brand’s flagship vehicle, now has better charging capabilities and more processing power for smarter infotainment and safety.

In addition, Volvo is introducing a “Black Edition” design package for all of its electric vehicles, beginning with the EX40, which has black accents, badges, and wheels for a sporty, aggressive look.

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country and Single Motor are two sides of the same coin; one is centered on capability and style, while the other is focused on efficiency and value. When combined, they make Volvo’s electric range more exciting and inclusive than before.
