The RAM 1500 REV and the Chevrolet Silverado EV are both full-size electric pickup trucks targeting buyers who want to replace a gas-powered workhorse without giving up towing capacity, bed utility, or everyday practicality. The REV is RAM’s first all-electric entry into the half-ton segment, while the Silverado EV is GM’s push to electrify its best-selling truck nameplate. Both go after the same buyer — someone who already owns or is considering a full-size truck and is watching fuel and maintenance costs add up.

On range, the RAM 1500 REV has a meaningful edge. The range-topping REV is rated at up to 500 miles on a full charge, which no other electric pickup currently matches. The Silverado EV tops out at around 450 miles in its highest-range trim, still competitive but noticeably behind. For charging, both trucks support DC fast charging. The REV can charge at up to 800V, accepting up to 350 kW, and gets roughly 110 miles in 10 minutes under ideal conditions. The Silverado EV supports up to 350 kW as well, with GM claiming around 100 miles in 10 minutes. In real-world use, both are quick to top up on a high-speed charger — the gap between them is smaller there than the spec sheets suggest.
Pricing separates them more clearly. The RAM 1500 REV starts around $74,000 for the base trim and climbs past $96,000 for fully configured versions. The Silverado EV starts lower — around $60,000 for the WT work-truck variant — but the RST and ZR2 trims that most buyers end up cross-shopping push into the $78,000–$100,000+ range. Availability has been a frustration on both sides. Chevrolet has been rolling out Silverado EV deliveries in phases, with broader availability arriving through 2024 and into 2025. The REV launched for the 2025 model year with a similarly limited early rollout. If you need a truck now rather than on an order list, availability in your region is worth checking before comparing specs.
RAM’s EV lineup currently sits as a single model — the 1500 REV — without a broader family of electric trucks behind it yet, though RAM has hinted at commercial EV variants down the line. On the broader RAM brand, the ProMaster EV is already in production as a commercial van. For rival electric trucks, the Ford F-150 Lightning is the most direct competitor to both, along with the Rivian R1T for buyers open to a non-legacy-brand option. Chevrolet’s electric vehicle range extends beyond the Silverado EV to include the Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and the GMC Sierra EV — which shares its platform with the Silverado EV and is worth cross-shopping if you want the same powertrain in a slightly different package. The GMC Hummer EV also sits on the brand’s roster for buyers who want something more extreme.
RAM 1500 REV The REV’s 500-mile range rating is the best of any electric pickup on sale today, which removes most range anxiety for long hauls. It also has a genuinely large frunk and a well-executed interior that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. On the downside, the starting price is steep — there’s no budget-friendly entry point — and dealer inventory is still thin enough that getting one quickly requires patience or luck.
Chevrolet Silverado EV The Silverado EV offers a lower entry price with the WT trim, which makes it easier to justify for fleet or work buyers. The GM Ultium platform is proven across multiple models, and GM’s dealer network is one of the largest in the country. That said, the Silverado EV has had early software and delivery issues reported by some owners, and the cabin design — particularly in mid-range trims — feels less refined compared to what RAM has put together in the REV.
QUICK VERDICT
If range is the deciding factor, the REV wins. If price is the ceiling and you need something sooner, the Silverado EV gets you into a full-size electric truck for less money. Neither truck has enough real-world ownership data to call one definitively more reliable than the other yet — both are early production runs with all that implies. Worth waiting for more long-term owner reports before committing either way.
