Single-Seater Pegasus: The Future of Electric Foiling Innovation
High performance and the easy handling of a bicycle are combined in the single-seater Pegasus, an all-electric foiling craft. created by the Finnish startup Foil. First of all, this elegant design redefines the limits of personal watercraft design by fusing the excitement of a fast hydrofoil with the ease of riding a bicycle.
Wait until one of these futuristic Pegasus foilers flies by your boat if you thought foiling electric surfboards was the best superyacht toy ever.
Formula One Styling Meets Electric Performance
Inspired by 1960s Formula One cars, the single-seater Pegasus is made entirely of lightweight carbon fiber. It can fly a few feet above the water with ease and reach speeds of up to 30 knots, providing a smooth and thrilling ride.

Rides Like a Bike — Intuitive Steering and Balance
The Pegasus’s true brilliance is its easy-to-use analog foiling system, which integrates ride height, balance, and steering into a single, user-friendly control configuration.
Japanese foiling pioneer Kotaro Horiuchi made the initial discovery, and Foil improved it. The system, which was primarily designed by Eric Smits, has a steerable front foil that is attached to twin handle levers that resemble those on a recumbent bicycle or rowing boat.
Pull the right lever, and the Pegasus leans into a tight right turn.
Pull the left lever, and it banks smoothly into a left turn.
The result? It handles just like a bicycle. Anyone who can ride a bike can quickly master balancing and steering this foiling machine.

Smart Surface-Sensing Technology
A surface-sensing wand fastened to the front strut is the central component of the Pegasus’ stability. By reacting to water contact, this mechanism continuously modifies the lift of the front foil:
- When the wand’s float touches water, it increases lift.
- When it rises above the surface, lift decreases.
The single-seater Pegasus automatically adjusts to the water conditions and maintains a steady flight above the waves thanks to this continuous adjustment. Additionally, riders can adjust sensitivity to suit their preferences and the condition of the sea.
Silent Electric Power and Lightweight Design
A 10kW electric motor installed in the stern of the Pegasus powers a propeller through a 90-degree gearbox and a thin shaft. The system provides an emission-free and environmentally friendly ride while operating quietly.
At 20 to 25 knots, two 5kWh Torqeedo batteries can run for up to 2.5 hours, or about 50 nautical miles. Its 200kg carbon fiber construction makes it easy to trailer the entire craft, or the batteries can be removed for at-home charging.
Both foils retract through the deck when docked, reducing draft and making storage and transportation simple.

Style Inspired by Classic Racing Heritage
The British Racing Green and Gold color scheme of the first-ever single-seater Pegasus model pays homage to the legendary Lotus 49 F1 car from the 1960s, which was once driven by racing greats Jim Clark and Graham Hill.
Foil. To capture the spirit of performance and adventure behind the Pegasus, one even created a fictional backstory centered on Reggie Hawke, a British racing driver.
Price and Future Plans
The single-seater Pegasus, which starts at €109,900 (not including taxes or batteries), is marketed as a luxury toy for superyacht owners and waterfront enthusiasts looking for the newest advancement in marine mobility.
Foil. This marks the start of a revolutionary era in electric hydrofoiling, as one also intends to add a two-seater Pegasus and even a full-sized foiling sportsboat to the lineup.
The single-seater Pegasus is more than just a device; it’s a window into the future of personal electric watercraft thanks to its gorgeous design, carbon-fiber construction, and simple control system. This electric foiler has the potential to become the ultimate aquatic experience for early adopters who are hankering after speed, silence, and style.
