BYD Energy Storage brings blade-battery BESS to Solar & Storage Live UK 2026
BYD Energy Storage, the stationary storage arm of Chinese automaker BYD, was at Solar & Storage Live UK 2026 (NEC Birmingham, 22 to 24 September). On the stand: two utility-scale battery systems, a grid power converter, and a range of home batteries and inverters.

Utility-scale BESS: MC-Cube-XT and Haohan
Both systems are built around long, thin blade cells. Most BESS designs put several battery stacks inside a 20- or 40-ft container. BYD takes a different route and fits multiple cabinet-style storage sections into a container frame.
MC-Cube-XT has 12 cube cabinets with 1,980 Ah blade cells, for 6,437 kWh in total, and measures 7,550 × 2,438 × 2,896 mm (W × D × H). BYD describes it as the core of its GW-level grid-forming solution 2.0, aimed at storage of two hours or more. Combined with GC Flux PCS 2.0, it makes up a plant-level “GC Block” of up to 62 MWh. The line goes back to the MC Cube-T, which launched in April 2024 at 6.432 MWh.
Haohan is the bigger of the two. It puts 4 cubes on a shared base frame and uses 2,710 Ah cells, for 14,568 kWh. BYD launched it on 18 September 2025 and says its 14.5 MWh minimum unit is the largest on the market. The company also quotes a 52.1% cell-to-system volume ratio and an IP66 rating, which it says suits the UK’s wet weather. In the space of a 20-ft container, BYD says Haohan holds 10 MWh. Tesla’s Megapack 3 is rated at 5 MWh.
The cell size is the interesting part. Most projects today use 314 Ah cells, and EVE’s 628 Ah is the largest in commercial use. Bigger cells mean fewer enclosures and a smaller footprint, but they also concentrate more energy in each cell, so thermal management and deployment logistics are fair questions for any buyer.
Rated full-load DC output is 1,608 kW for MC-Cube-XT and 1,820 kW for Haohan.
GC Flux bidirectional PCS
BYD also had its GC Flux bidirectional PCS station on display. It lets both BESS products charge from and discharge to the grid. BYD quotes a maximum rated capacity of 7,000 kW, conversion efficiency of up to 99%, and overload capacity of up to 300% for 10 seconds. BYD introduced GC Flux as a grid-forming inverter for 2.5 to 10 MW systems.
Residential and small C&I lineup
For homes, BYD showed its Battery-Box HVB, HVE and HVM+ batteries and three-phase Power-Box hybrid inverters. It also introduced Battery-Box Mega, a small commercial and industrial system.
BYD’s growing storage business
BYD shipped over 60 GWh of BESS in 2025, roughly 13% of the global market. It will supply Haohan systems for a planned 600 MW / 2.4 GWh project in Siedlce, Poland, which would be the country’s largest battery installation.
