The Amazon of China, JD.com, is making a daring entry into the electric vehicle market with the launch of a new vehicle in partnership with CATL and GAC. In order to develop a new “National Good Car,” the e-commerce behemoth announced a collaboration with GAC Group and Era Electric Service, a subsidiary of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL).
The car is anticipated to make its debut at JD.com’s 11.11 shopping festival, where it will only be offered for sale through the platform’s CATL Chocolate JD.com Official Flagship Store.
Battery-Swappable GAC Aion UT
This next car will be a battery-swappable variant of the GAC Aion UT, according to Chinese media outlet Yicai. With GAC Group managing vehicle manufacturing and JD.com offering data-driven consumer insights, online retail, and after-sales service channels, the project incorporates CATL’s “chocolate” battery swap system.
Customization and User Interaction
JD.com wants to make purchasing a car more engaging and customized. Customers can participate in an interactive co-creation activity by searching for “National Good Car” on the JD.com app. Customers have the option of customizing their vehicle with various wraps, accessories, and maintenance plans, or they can select from a standard model.
 GAC Aion UT Overview
On February 28, 2024, the GAC Aion UT, the company’s third worldwide model, was formally introduced. It costs between 69,800 and 101,800 yuan (roughly $9,600 to $14,000 USD) and comes in five trim levels with CLTC ranges of 330 and 420 km.
