The Leapmotor B05 Ultra has started reaching dealerships across China, bringing an upgraded 180 kW (241 hp) motor, a sport-focused exterior kit, and a revised interior that sets it apart from the rest of the B05 lineup. It will be the range-topping trim. Pricing has not been announced, but sales are scheduled to begin in April 2026.

The B05 is also sold under the Lafa 5 name in China.

Exterior: Sport Kit Confirmed by MITT Filings

Earlier MITT regulatory filings first revealed the B05 Ultra’s visual changes. The production version carries sportier side skirts, a dual-layer front splitter, and a more aggressive rear spoiler — details now confirmed in Leapmotor’s official announcement.

Interior: Suede Surfaces, 8-Point Massage, Ultra Badging

Inside, the B05 Ultra gets a notably different treatment from the standard B05. Key upgrades include:

  • Redesigned front seats with Ultra embroidery and an 8-point massage function
  • Faux suede across the majority of interior surfaces
  • Body-coloured seat belts with Ultra badging as standard

Pricing and Range

The standard B05 is priced from ¥97,800 to ¥121,800 (~$14,300–$17,800 USD). The Ultra trim is expected to come in above that ceiling, though no official figure has been set.

The B05 measures 4,430 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,520 mm tall, on a 2,735 mm wheelbase. Buyers can choose between two LFP battery options: a 56.2 kWh pack (515 km CLTC range) or a 67.1 kWh pack (605 km CLTC range).

Competition: Who Is the B05 Ultra Actually Competing With?

Leapmotor has made one previous push into sporty EVs — the LP-S01, a front-wheel-drive two-door launched in 2017 as the company’s debut production model. The B05 Ultra is a different kind of attempt: a performance trim on a mainstream hatchback, priced well below flagships like the Lynk & Co 10+ and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.

More realistic cross-shopping rivals sit closer in price and segment: the BYD Seal 06 GT, the Lynk & Co Z20, and the Zeekr X — all sporty EV hatchbacks competing for younger Chinese buyers.

Sales Context

Leapmotor delivered 18,292 vehicles in China in February 2026, down 17.1% year-on-year. Despite the dip, the company is targeting 1 million global deliveries in 2026 — an ambitious number that puts pressure on models like the B05 Ultra to perform.
