The upcoming Leapmotor B05 Ultra, also referred to as the Lafa 5 Ultra in China, is a sportier and more performance-focused variant of the B05 hatchback that Leapmotor has formally unveiled. The disclosure comes after Senior Vice President Cao Li made remarks in a recent interview with the media. This high-performance version was first introduced at the 2025 Munich Motor Show with the Leapmotor B05.

Targeting Younger, Performance-Minded Drivers
Cao Li claims that the Leapmotor B05 Ultra has undergone significant development in order to appeal to young, performance-oriented users. Approximately 70% of blind-order clients are under 35, demonstrating Leapmotor’s rising appeal to younger automobile purchasers.
Cao stated that the Leapmotor B05 Ultra is expected to be delivered domestically in early 2026, with a phased international rollout to follow. The standard Lafa 5 is expected to join the Chinese market by late 2025.
Distinctive Aerodynamic Design
Although Leapmotor has not yet disclosed full technical specifications, the Leapmotor B05 Ultra will receive major exterior upgrades to distinguish it from the base model.
Key visual highlights include:
A reshaped front splitter for improved airflow.
A larger rear spoiler that enhances downforce.
Gloss-black trim accents emphasizing its sport-oriented look.
Both the standard and Ultra models have 19-inch alloy wheels, but the Ultra model has a more aggressive diffuser, rear spoiler, and front bumper to improve stability and aerodynamics.
Performance-Focused Interior
the details of the Leapmotor B05 Ultra’s interior is still unknown, Cao Li disclosed that it will use a lot of suede-like materials to provide a “strong sense of performance.”
Every component of the Lafa 5 Ultra’s design, he continued, has a purpose, with Leapmotor giving driver control and aerodynamic efficiency precedence over purely aesthetic appeal. Later this year, the entire cabin should be revealed.

Engineered for Precision and Control
Stellantis’ European engineering team optimizes the chassis of the Leapmotor B05 Ultra, providing a 50:50 weight distribution for balanced handling and enhanced cornering stability.
Although Leapmotor has not yet confirmed it, industry analysts anticipate that the B05 Ultra will have a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The Lafa 5 Ultra, which is based on the company’s LEAP 3.5 modular platform, is intended to be Leapmotor’s most dynamic small electric vehicle to date.
Competing in China’s Compact EV Segment
Following its launch, the Leapmotor B05 Ultra will compete with well-known rivals such as the BYD Dolphin, Geely Geome Xingyuan, and MG4 in China’s rapidly expanding compact hatchback EV market. The Leapmotor B05 Ultra is positioned to be one of the most intriguing electric hatchbacks of 2026 thanks to its sporty design, elegant chassis, and youth-focused branding.
