Mercedes Developing VAN.EA Platform For Electric Vans

Mercedes-Benz Vans, the business division of Mercedes, unveiled its new VAN.EA platform. Starting in 2026, all new medium and large vans from the German automaker will be built on the scalable electric design.

The VAN.EA platform, Van Electric Architecture, is intended for adaptability. It will support a wide range of vans, including luxury private automobiles and premium commercial versions.This will allow Mercedes-Benz to meet a wide range of needs while reducing its production process. The platform will allow both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, increasing flexibility.

All VAN.EA-based vehicles will run the most recent version of the Mercedes-Benz OS, ensuring a cutting-edge digital experience. All VAN.EA vehicles will have 800V architecture and 22 kW AC charging.

VAN.EA Platform Climatic Testing

Mercedes-Benz is already testing VAN.EA prototypes. Last June, a specially designed test vehicle traveled from Stuttgart to the North Cape. This exhausting journey focused on testing the chassis, electric powertrain, battery, and high-voltage components in a variety of settings. The next significant test step will be winter testing in Sweden, where the prototypes will withstand extreme cold and icy conditions.
