Another daring move by the state-owned automaker as it increases its footprint in the cutthroat electric vehicle market is the official launch of the Wuling Aishang A100C electric city car in China. Despite being a stand-alone product, the Aishang A100C is remarkably similar to the Changan Lumin, leading to comparisons as a “grumpier” version of the latter. An alluring 39,800 yuan (approximately $5,590 USD) is the starting price for the new model.

Wuling’s New Electric Move

Wuling is a member of Guangxi Automotive Group’s SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture, a significant player in China’s automotive sector. When the Hongguang Mini EV became the best-selling battery electric vehicle (BEV) globally in 2021, the brand gained recognition on a global scale.
Wuling is now making its debut with the Aishang A100C, a completely self-developed EV intended to appeal to urban consumers looking for affordability, style, and usefulness.

Aishang A100C Design and Dimensions

With dimensions of 3,285 mm for length, 1,708 mm for width, and 1,550 mm for height, the Aishang A100C is a small urban EV with a 1,980 mm wheelbase. It has a sleek city appearance thanks to its aerodynamic wheel covers, blacked-out pillars, and smooth lines.

The Aishang A100C has distinct proportions and a redesigned greenhouse, despite having a similar overall appearance to the Changan Lumin. It has a somewhat “grumpy” personality thanks to its expressive headlights, and the design is finished with circular taillights, conventional door handles, and a useful front bumper air intake.

Interior and Features

The Aishang A100C has a straightforward but contemporary interior with a digital instrument cluster and a floating touchscreen. The lack of a center tunnel maximizes front cabin space, and the gear selector is mounted behind a two-spoke steering wheel.

Physical controls for the air conditioner, four seats with built-in headrests, and a useful cargo capacity of 106 liters (standard) that can be increased to 882 liters by folding the back seats are additional highlights.

Aishang A100C Price and Variants

There are four trim levels available for the Aishang A100C, providing flexibility for a range of price points. It has its own charm and contemporary features, despite being somewhat more expensive than the Changan Lumin and Wuling Hongguang Mini EV.
