The highly-anticipated first electric vehicle (EV) from Xiaomi, known as the SU7, has finally revealed some concrete details. The key specifications of the vehicle, as well as official images, have been obtained through a regulatory filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Xiaomi SU7 Specs
Xiaomi’s EV is available in two model numbers: BJ7000MBEVR2, representing the single-motor variant, and BJ7000MBEVA1, representing the dual-motor variant. The SU7 measures 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and 1,455 mm in height, featuring a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
The top speed of this vehicle is expected to reach an impressive 130 mph. The filing notably discloses that it is BAIC Off-road Vehicle, and not Xiaomi, that is responsible for the manufacturing process.
Xiaomi has announced its plans to offer a range of car models, consisting of three tiers. These tiers include the single-motor SU7, which weighs approximately 1,980 kg. Additionally, Xiaomi will introduce the SU7 Pro and SU7 Max, both weighing around 2,205 kg.
The SU7, equipped with a single motor, boasts an impressive 220 kW (295 hp) powertrain. United Automotive Electric Systems, a renowned joint venture between the prestigious companies Bosch and Zhonglian Automotive Electronics, expertly crafts this remarkable motor. The SU7 Pro and SU7 Max are equipped with a pair of motors, each boasting an impressive output of 220 kW (295 hp) and 275 kW (368 hp) respectively. When these two mighty motors join forces, they unleash a jaw-dropping combined power of 660 hp.
The SU7 is equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, which are sourced from FinDreams, an affiliate of BYD. Li-ion ternary batteries made by CATL are present in the SU7 Pro and SU7 Max. The rumored architecture for Xiaomi’s SU7 is said to be utilizing an impressive 800V design. The inclusion of an optional roof-mounted LiDAR system serves to enhance various features, such as autonomous driving capabilities.
According to reports, it has been stated that Xiaomi is set to commence large-scale production of the SU7 in the month of December, aiming for a scheduled release of the vehicle in February of the year 2024, potentially coinciding with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event. According to reports, Xiaomi’s car factory in Beijing has successfully manufactured several preliminary SU7 models, which are currently undergoing testing in various locations.
