This year, the Volvo EX30, the company’s first fully electric SUV, made its world premiere in Milan to much fanfare. Today, Volvo Cars announced the pricing for its newest EV for customers in the United States and Canada, continuing its expansion into the electric vehicle market.
Don’t get too excited just yet — that price tag is sure to raise eyebrows. The starting price in Canada is $53,700 CAD for the base model. Yes, a high-end electric SUV (albeit a compact one) that costs almost as much as its conventionally-powered counterpart. The news is even better for Canada’s southern neighbors. The entry-level price in the US is an alluring $34,950.

The EX30 is “an espresso shot of Volvo”—not just an electric car. This compact SUV has a classic Scandinavian design and five exterior colors. You can choose between Crystal White’s elegance and Moss Yellow’s playfulness.
The minimalistic Scandinavian interior features natural and recycled leather-free materials. Five ambient lighting themes are inspired by pristine Swedish landscapes. With the four interior designs—Mist, Pine, Indigo, and Breeze—customizing your EX30 is simple.
Volvo is more than looks and safety, a brand pillar. The EX30 has a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Front and Rear Collision mitigation, as expected from Volvo.
Volvo goes beyond individual safety due to the climate crisis. In order to be carbon neutral by 2040 and a fully electric car company by 2030, Volvo designed the EX30 to have the lowest carbon footprint of all its cars.
Google Maps and Assistant are built into every EX30. Apple fans can connect wirelessly with Apple CarPlay.
Two main powertrains exist. The Single Motor Extended Range has a 442-kilometer range (275 miles for the US variant). The Twin Motor Performance variant is the fastest Volvo, accelerating from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph for the US) in 3.6 seconds.
Luxury packages like the EX30 Plus and Ultra add Harman Kardon sound, a panoramic roof, and next-gen Pilot Assist.
Prepare, Canadians. Volvo’s standard heated front seats and steering wheel keep you warm in winter.
Reservations open soon, and deliveries are expected next summer in Canada and the first half of next year in the US. EX30 introduces Volvo Car Canada’s ‘One Price Promise’, eliminating tedious negotiations.
