Hyundai Reveals the Ioniq 3 — A Compact EV Hatchback With 308 Miles of Range
Hyundai has revealed the Ioniq 3, a new compact electric hatchback positioned below the Ioniq 5 in the brand’s growing EV lineup. The car shares its platform with the Kia EV3 and EV4, rides on a long 2,680 mm wheelbase for its size, and offers up to 308 miles of range on the Long Range model.
Hyundai describes it as an “aero hatchback” — low-slung compared to a traditional SUV, but designed to maximize interior space despite a compact 4,155 mm overall length. That puts it roughly in the same footprint as the Hyundai Bayon.

What Are the Hyundai Ioniq 3 Battery and Range Options?
Two powertrain options are available at launch.
The Standard Range model pairs a 42.2 kWh battery with a 144 hp (108 kW) motor, delivering up to 214 miles of range. The Long Range model steps up to a 61 kWh battery with a slightly lower-output 133 hp (100 kW) motor, but pushes range to 308 miles (496 km). Both variants produce 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque.
A high-performance Ioniq 3 N variant has not been confirmed, but the platform is rated for dual-motor configurations and up to 288 hp — so one is widely expected.
What Does the Hyundai Ioniq 3 Look Like?
The production design pulls back from the concept car but keeps a few distinctive touches. The front uses split LED daytime running lights. The rear light cluster traces the letter “H” in Morse code — a detail enthusiasts will either love or find too clever by half.
The more divisive design choice is the rear window: a thick horizontal bar divides the glass across the middle, which could limit rearward visibility in real-world driving.
Five doors and a conventional hatchback layout replace any concept-car door experiments. An N Line trim adds 19-inch alloy wheels, aggressive front and rear bumpers, a rear spoiler, and black exterior accents on the roof and wheel arch trim. The standard model rides on 16-inch wheels.
What’s Inside the Hyundai Ioniq 3 Cabin?
The dashboard centers on a 14.6-inch touchscreen running Pleos, Hyundai’s new Google-based infotainment system — the first time the platform appears in a production Hyundai. Entry-level trims get a 12.9-inch display instead. Physical buttons for climate control and the radio are retained alongside the touchscreen.
The gear selector is a stalk behind the steering wheel, which frees up the center console for storage bins, cup holders, and a wireless charger. Boot capacity is 441 liters, with additional underfloor storage called the “Megabox.” Relaxation Seats that recline flat are available for charging stops.

When Does the Hyundai Ioniq 3 Go on Sale?
European deliveries are expected later in 2025. Production takes place in Turkey.
The Ioniq 3 will not be sold in the United States. Import tariffs would push the price beyond what Hyundai considers commercially viable in that market.
No official pricing has been announced for any market yet. A full N performance version, if confirmed, would come after the standard models launch.
