Leapmotor has added two new all-electric models to its C16 SUV lineup, offering longer range. The business portrays the new models as a reaction to rising demand for EVs that can go longer distances on a single charge, which is a major issue for many potential consumers.
Leapmotor C16 SUV Details and Price
The two new models, priced at RMB 172,800 ($23,600) and RMB 189,800 ($26,000), have a CLTC (China light-duty vehicle test cycle) range of 360 miles. This significantly exceeds the previous all-electric C16 model’s range of 323 miles. The increased range is due to a larger 74.9 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack, up from 67.7 kWh in previous versions. The more expensive form of the new long-range C16 includes a 128-channel LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) system, which is used for increased driver assistance and autonomous driving capabilities.
Leapmotor C16 is a six-seat SUV. It was originally introduced in June 2024 and is available in both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants. The EREV versions are equipped with a small gasoline engine that recharges the battery on the road. They provide a more adaptable option for people concerned about range anxiety. The single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration achieves a reasonable 0-62 mph acceleration time of 6.4 second.
The C16 had dimensions of 193.5 inches long, 75 inches wide, 69.7 inches high, with a wheelbase of 111.2 inches.
Leapmotor is giving a variety of incentives to consumers who order and receive the long-range BEV models by January 31st. These include an RMB 5,000 discount, an RMB 5,000 reduction in financing interest, an RMB 5,000 trade-in subsidy, and an RMB 7,000 option subsidy. Prospective purchasers who act promptly can save a total of RMB 22,000 ($3,000).
