Xiaomi, the digital behemoth famed for its smartphones and smart home products, is making a daring foray into the high-performance car market with the much-anticipated Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. This track-focused electric vehicle has landed in showrooms across China, days before its formal market debut. Fans may now get a closer look at this powerful EV before sales begin in March.
Xiaomi’s official Weibo account revealed the SU7 Ultra‘s showroom premiere, with the car on display in 112 locations across 42 cities in China. The emergence of the SU7 Ultra at Xiaomi’s Beijing plant ensures bulk production and prompt delivery.
The SU7 Ultra stands out from the standard SU7 with a revised front bumper and spoiler, larger brakes for better stopping power, and a bright yellow body color with “Ultra” stripes. A large rear spoiler and a somewhat broader body emphasize its performance-oriented design.
The quickest Xiaomi is propelled by an advanced triple-motor technology. This monster produces 1,526 horsepower and 1,305 lb-ft of torque. The SU7 Ultra has exceptional acceleration capabilities, achieving 0-62 mph in 1.98 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph.
To handle this enormous power, the SU7 Ultra has carbon ceramic brake discs, the largest ever fitted to a sports car. These high-performance brakes can endure temperatures up to 2,372°F, providing consistent stopping power even in harsh situations. The result is a phenomenal braking distance of only 1,212.6 inches from 62 mph to complete stop.
The SU7 Ultra is powered by CATL’s 93.7 kWh Qilin II high-power battery pack. The vehicle supports 5.2C DC fast charging, which allows for a 10-80% charge in 11 minutes. The SU7 Ultra has a CLTC range of 385 miles on a full charge, but its performance on the track under racing circumstances remains to be seen.
The SU7 Ultra is a significant upgrade from the standard SU7, which is intended for everyday commuting. Xiaomi aims to appeal to users seeking a more thrilling electric driving experience by emphasizing improved performance and braking. Waiting periods for the SU7 Ultra will be the focus once deliveries begin in March.
The SU7 Ultra went on presale on October 29. The high-performance EV, priced at RMB 814,900 (roughly $113,300), sparked widespread attention, with 3,680 orders placed within 10 minutes of its unveiling.
