The BYD Seagull Vitality is the base trim of BYD’s smallest passenger EV, a five-door A00-class hatchback with a single front motor. Overseas the car is called the Dolphin Mini or Dolphin Surf. It is 3,780 mm long, 1,715 mm wide and 1,540 mm tall, with a 2,500 mm wheelbase. The 2026 update added an optional LiDAR-based assistance package, “God’s Eye B”. Higher trims can have it. The Vitality can’t.
Under the floor is a 30.08 kWh battery feeding a 55 kW motor, good for 305 km on the CLTC cycle. CLTC is generous, so real-world range will be lower, and there’s no WLTP or EPA figure for this trim. Charging figures come from the 2024 model: DC peaks at 30 kW, with about 30 minutes for 30% to 80%. I couldn’t confirm whether 2026 changed that. The AC onboard charger rate is also unconfirmed, so check BYD’s spec sheet before quoting one.
In China the Vitality costs 69,900 yuan, roughly $10,300. The name is China-only. The Dolphin Surf starts at £18,675 in the UK and €22,990 in Europe, though those are different trims and not a straight conversion. This is a short-trip car, so it suits a city commuter or a second car. Within BYD it sits below the Dolphin and overlaps with the Yuan Up crossover on price. Outside BYD, the Wuling Bingo and the Geely Xingyuan (EX2 in some markets) are the nearest rivals, and the Bingo is the closest match for a comparison page. I haven’t checked either rival’s current specs or prices, so verify them before publishing.
