The Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is a mid-tier model in Renault’s electric lineup, positioned between the smaller Renault 5 E-Tech and the larger Scénic E-Tech. It is a compact (C-segment) electric hatchback with a raised, crossover-like stance, built on the CMF-EV platform — the same architecture underpinning the Scénic E-Tech and the Nissan Ariya — and sold exclusively with a single front-mounted motor; no AWD or RWD variant exists. The notable point for 2026 is a mid-cycle facelift, the first major update since the model launched in 2022, which replaces the original NMC battery chemistry with Renault’s first cell-to-pack LFP pack on this platform, alongside a redesigned front end and a simplified two-trim lineup (Techno and Esprit Alpine).
The updated battery is a 67 kWh usable LFP unit, up from 60 kWh previously, which lifts WLTP range to roughly 500 km (310 miles), up from 468 km (280 miles) on the outgoing pack. The exact final WLTP figure has been reported by some outlets as still pending Renault’s official homologation confirmation ahead of the car’s full reveal. Onboard AC charging holds at 11 kW, with 22 kW optional where three-phase supply is available. DC peak charging rises from 130 kW to 165 kW, cutting a 15–80% top-up to around 24 minutes, down from roughly 30 minutes before. The motor output is unchanged at 220 PS (217 hp) and 300 Nm, with a 0–100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds and a 160 km/h top speed.
Renault has signaled a starting price just under €40,000 including VAT for the French market — roughly ₦62 million at the official CBN rate of about ₦1,565/EUR (June 2026), before any import duties, freight, or agent fees. UK and other regional pricing had not been confirmed at the time of writing. The Mégane E-Tech is not factory-sold in Nigeria, Kenya, or South Africa, so buyers in these markets would only reach it through grey-market import channels, where landed cost typically runs well above the European list figure once duties and shipping are added. It suits an urban or suburban commuter, or a small family wanting a mainstream-badge compact EV rather than a long-range tourer. Within Renault’s own range, it sits between the Renault 5 E-Tech (smaller, cheaper entry hatchback) and the Scénic E-Tech (larger crossover sharing the same platform, motor, and battery). Externally, it competes with the Volkswagen ID.3 and the MG4 at similar pricing. The closest spec-and-price match for a direct comparison is the VW ID.3.
