The Spiro Ekon Alpha+ is an electric motorcycle developed by Spiro, Africa’s largest electric two-wheeler operator. Co-created with music artist Davido, it sits at the premium end of Spiro’s lineup — above the standard Ekon series — and targets the urban and semi-commercial riding segment. It carries a neo-retro design with dual-tone graphics and aerodynamic body panels, putting it in the lifestyle-leaning corner of the commuter motorcycle category.
The Alpha+ runs a 12 kW motor, tops out at 105 km/h, and delivers a claimed range of 100+ km per charge. Torque is rated at 320 Nm at the wheels. Like the rest of the Ekon range, it plugs into Spiro’s battery swap network — a sub-two-minute exchange at automated swap stations — alongside home charging and fast chargers that handle a full charge in roughly an hour . Riders who prefer to top up between jobs can add 30 to 40 per cent at public fast charge points.
Spiro prices the Alpha+ at ₦1.75 million including the bike, battery, and charger — above the standard Ekon at ₦1.44 million, but still well below most EVs in the Nigerian market. It suits riders who want more performance and tech than a basic commuter delivers, without crossing into the collector-tier pricing of the Davido Collectible. Within Spiro’s own range, the two closest siblings are the Ekon 450M1 — the workhorse model tuned for boda-boda and delivery use — and the Davido Collectible, a limited-edition variant aimed at enthusiasts. For those shopping across brands, the Roam Air (Kenya-based) and Vmoto Super Soco CPx are the most direct alternatives in the African urban electric motorcycle space. On specs alone, the Alpha+ most closely mirrors the Roam Air in motor output and target rider profile, though Spiro’s swap infrastructure gives it a practical edge in markets where it operates.
